Sam Jethroe

His nickname was Jet and for good reason.
Possessing incredible speed, Jethroe as a rookie at age 38 with the Boston
Braves led the National League in stolen bases and then the next year as
well. He earned NL Rookie of the Year honors in 1950. Previously he had
led the Negro American League in both batting and stolen bases in 1944 and
'45.
